Project monitoring and oversight during hazardous material abatement includes project documentation and management of work performed by abatement contractors. Most of this work is follow-on work from our surveys and includes working with calibration, sampling, and analysis procedures specified by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), and industry standards. Applied Environmental personnel provide on-site readings of asbestos air samples using Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM). All personnel providing readings are members of the AIHA Asbestos Analysts Registry.
Abatement Specifications and Design
Applied Environmental personnel have extensive experience in the development, review, and approval of asbestos and lead-based paint abatement specifications and submittals. Project review process includes a thorough examination of contractor OSHA compliance records, specifically respiratory protection and hazard communication programs, equipment and material evaluations, licensing, medical monitoring, and safety training documentation.
An additional service provided by Applied Environmental is development of specifications for abatement of asbestos and lead-based paint using OSHA and HUD/EPA regulations as these relate to worker protection, abatement, or operations and maintenance activities.
